A Foodie Trip to London: Day 3

The third day of our gallivant round London town produced bright and beautiful weather and we therefore decided to spend our morning exploring the delights of Borough Market.

A cheeky glass of champagne to sup as you wander round feels wonderfully decadent and refreshing if you can manage to not get it all slopped down your front whilst fighting your way through the heaving crowds of fervent, Saturday morning market goers.

Having tried our fare share of tasters from al the wonderful stalls it was time to head back to Rabot 1745 where we had a table booked for lunch out on the upper terrace which is right in the heart of the Market itself and is therefore a wonderful spot to observe all of the commotion below...

...or just examine the menu with it's vast array of delightful options.

Once the rest of the family had arrived the feasting could begin.
We all started with a round of Aperol Spritz' to quench the thirst worked up from a morning of mooching.
Although we ordered starters, due to all the chatting, catching up and general merriment (blame the Aperol) I completely forgot to photograph any of it so, instead, we're going to move right along to mains.

I chose the burger topped with cheddar cheese, sweet, jammy relish, braised onions all served on a brioche bun with a side of chips. It. Was. AMAZING!

Three of our party decided on the West Indian curry tasting platter which consisted of: sweet potato and cauliflower gobi, spiced lentil dhal, spiced aubergine and cacao-nib rice. They all reported that it was comforting, tasty and not too heavy as curry can sometimes be.

The final plate was the 9 hour braised shoulder of lamb in cacao balsamic glaze served with garlic mashed potatoes and carrots. This would have been my second option had I not decided on the burger. It looks divine and was the first plate to be emptied out of everyone around the table.

^ I mean yum, right? ^

We may have all felt stuffed after our mains but, we were at a chocolate restaurant, so to not order dessert would have just been rude.
Seeing as the day was actually rather warm I decided to order my first iced coffee of the year which certainly did not disappoint.

To accompany this I got the Three Champagne Truffles as a sweet, but light, option that could be shared if necessary.

Nanna, went for the Coffee Chocolate which is essentially a mocha but not too sweet.

Sarah opted for the Prosecco poached rhubarb and white chocolate cheesecake which I was kind enough to sample for her (you know, to check it was safe and all that) and it was light, refreshing and creamy, not at all too dense or alcohol laden as I had expected it to be.

Joe went all out and ordered the Rabot 1745 Mousse Collection; a 68%, 70% and 90% mousse all of which were rich, not sweet at all and so dense that they were almost the consistency of ice cream as oppose to mousse. My favourite was the 68% purely for the fact that it was the sweetest and fluffiest in texture. If you are a fan of a richer, purer chocolate fix then this is a great pud for you, if you are someone who prefers a sweeter, sicklier variety of dessert *ahem, me* then give this one a miss and sample something else from the delectable menu.
